As we near the fall solstice it’s time to start prepping our spookiest outfits (no clowns please) and harvesting our decorative gourds. It’s also film festival time again and that means it’s time to debate forever if comic book movies should win Oscars.
Previously On Comics: Wars and Abandonment
Good morning, and happy Monday! This weekend I’ll be heading down to Portland for Rose City Comic Con. I’m really looking forward to a chance to celebrate comics, because folks, this past week has been pretty terrible! Heres are the highlights:
Last Week’s Episode: Too Weird to Live, Too Weird to Get a Movie
It Happened To Me: I listened to Jeremy Renner’s Jeep commercial of a song for a laugh and got it stuck in my head for two straight days. I want this to be a cautionary tale of irony for all of y’all.
Previously on Comics: Labor Day
Hello again! Today is Labor Day in North America, which makes it kind of ironic that the biggest news this week is that a sexual harasser in comics seems to finally be facing consequences.
Monthly Marvel Muster: What Is, What Was, What Never Will Be
Welcome to the August edition of the Monthly Marvel Muster. This month we have a passel of new ongoings spinning out of War of the Realms, two universes’ worth of summer Annuals, and the tragic tale of the Summer Special that almost was.
DC PUBWATCH – August 2019 Edition
The only big news of this month’s DC Pubwatch is that G. Willow Wilson is leaving Wonder Woman with October’s issue #81, giving us four more issues under her pen. Set to replace her for at least a six issue arc is Steve Orlando, who wrote issues #51-55 of the series before Wilson came on….
Last Weeks’ Episode: But Doctor
Tuesday feels like a fake day so Wednesday is always creeping up on me! This week we got a ton of Disney news (just like the rest of our lives), Titans, and Hollywood racism, and a financial scheme!
Previously On Comics: Now With Space Fascists
Good news folks, comics ARE for kids again! The Wall Street Journal said so. I think. It’s behind a paywall but from what I can glean they have just now learned that graphics novels that are aimed at younger readers and deal with more sensitive topics such as those by New York Times bestseller list…
Last Week’s Episode: Cindy Moon Rising
It’s a busy week for nerd news, y’all — Lana Wachowski’s back in the director’s chair and Sony and Marvel are fighting, and that was just yesterday! While I’m forever on Team Kill Peter Parker, More Other Spiders, if you want the deets you gotta dive in.
Previously On Comics: Comics Are Gay and Also Political
There’s been mostly good news this past week, including some long overdue announcements and some reminders to keep fighting the good fight.
Vault Comics Pubwatch: August
Following SDCC, Vault Comics has got lots on the go as they ramp up to continue the convention trail and ramp up for the fall. Here are some of the things going on in the Vault right now.
Last Week’s Episode: My Hot Girl Academia
Two things for this Wednesday: I don’t think I’ve seen more than five episodes of Friends in my life, and also say hi if you see me at Flame Con!
