Previously On Comics: Twenty-Twenty-Sue

Good morning!

Before anything else, a hearty cheers for our former editor and occasional star writer, Adrienne Resha, who has just been named as a winner of the 2022 Lucy Shelton Caswell Research Award. Adrienne, you’re as brilliant as ever, and we’re so glad to know you. Congratulations!

Now, as for the rest of you lot…

It appears Robert Kirkman, of Invincible and The Walking Dead fame, is being sued by the former title’s colorist for the first fifty issues, William Crabtree. The lawsuit alleges that Kirkman convinced Crabtree to sign away his rights as a co-creator in order to help an adaptation of the series move forward, on the understanding that this would not affect Crabtree’s earnings. This isn’t the first time that Kirkman’s been embroiled in legal battles over co-creator rights, as he settled with TWD artist Tony Moore over similar accusations in 2o12.

If you’d like something a little less messy, you could try this article on comics creator and Oni Press Sales Manager Henry Barajas and his latest book, Helm Greycastle.  Henry is a delight as a creator and a person, so I recommend this.

That’s all I got for you! I hope your first month of 2022 is going all right. Drink some water!
