Last Week’s Episode: Men Moan About Movies

Last Week's Episode

Hey there cinema aficionados! We’ve got some exciting news this week for anime fans, terrible news for true indie comic fans, and more in today’s link round-up.

Tarantino attached to direct his first television series based on the Naruto

Hear that? That’s the sound of thousands of fans “Naruto-running” to their couches in anticipation of Quentin Tarantino’s first foray into TV: a live-action adaptation of Naruto. The producers at Netflix have already cast Pete Davidson as the titular Naruto, with Scarlett Johansson as Sakura and Simu Liu as Sasuke. Reached for comment, Liu said he was thrilled to be working with a film legend, and so soon after wrapping his MCU debut as Shang-Chi. “After I saw how Bruce Lee was depicted in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I thought, ‘I have to work with this guy.’ I’m excited to see where we go with Sasuke.”

Zack Snyder’s The Joker Cut in development after success of four-hour Justice League

Fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League can rejoice as Warner Bros. has announced a spinoff project featuring the Joker, played by a returning Jared Leto. The Joker Cut will be an in-depth character study of our favorite unhinged clown villain and will answer the question on the tips of all of our tongues: What was the Joker doing during Darkseid’s invasion? Promising never-before-seen footage of Leto’s method acting hijinks, Snyder teased “a Jesu—I mean, Joker that will blow your minds.”

Savage Dragon Coming to the Big Screen in a groundbreaking set of CGI performances by Chris Pratt

Everyone’s favorite horny dragon will be coming the big screen thanks to Chris Pratt’s “Don’t Tread on Me” productions. Pratt will not only take on the titular role but also EVERY OTHER ROLE. He’ll also be directing the R-rated superhero romp. The film will see Pratt having multiple orgies with his CGI self which was key to his taking on the film. “I would never do a sex scene with a woman other than my wife,” Pratt said. “So with orgies being such a huge part of Savage Dragon’s story I decided to play every character.” Creator Eric Larsen stated “as long as someone shoots webs out of their vagina, I’m in.” [IndieTire]

Charles Burns’ Black Hole Comes to the CW

The comic classic Black Hole follows a group of teens in the 1970s who are dealing with an STI that causes mutations. This new series envisions the those teens as sexy high schoolers but also follows the cops who are trying to solve various murders around town. Starring three buff and racially ambiguous 25 year olds, this show is going to disrespect the source material so badly that I’ll be forced to record 3 hour long youtube rants about every episode. CSI IS BACK

Speaking of cop shows, we know you can’t get enough! — and CBS is delivering! William Petersen’s and Jorja Fox are reprising their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle in CSI: Vegas. Maybe we’ll get a crossover with the recently ended Criminal Minds’ Dr. Reid; I can only hope! [Collider]
