Keep reading to see our exclusive preview for Archie Milestones Jumbo Comics Digest #17: Best of the 1980s, plus a full Betty-centric story!

Archie Comics is returning to that era of Jelly Bracelets, side ponytails, and polo shirts with their latest Archie Milestones collection. But the new story this time out won’t be directly set in the 1980s. Instead, it will feature our central characters longing for the 1980s after getting sick of the way modern technology has impinged upon their lives. In Back to the Past, with their phones buzzing nonstop, Veronica and Betty decide to have an old-fashioned (gulp!) 80’s summer. They’ll ditch their phones for rollerskates. Will Veronica and Betty manage to find bliss by disconnecting, or is their idea more trouble than it’s worth?

You can read a preview of Back to the Past below, along with a full story (one of my favorites from the 1980s, interestingly enough), Betty’s Diary: Dare to be Different. In the latter, Betty wants to audition for a big-name punk group but fears her cello will make her an odd duck out.

Back to the Past was written by Tania del Rio, with art and lettering from Rex Lindsey, and colors by Glenn Whitmore. Dare to be Different sports art by Dan DeCarlo, inks by Jimmy DeCarlo, and writing and lettering by Rick Ollerenshaw.

Archie Milestones Jumbo Comic Digest #17: Best of the 1980s hits newsstands on November 2.
