Hello faithful readers! Kate here, and I’ve been having a shitty couple of weeks, so I’m here to share all the fun stuff from last week because I need joy. And there was a lot of joy.
WWAC has been nominated for another Eisner Award!

Obviously, we are going for the Three-peat, so please don’t forget to make sure you register to vote!
And check out all the nominees here.
And while we are thrilled to be nominated, we would not be WWAC if we did not point out the lack of women in certain categories which does make you question the nomination committee.
Anna Peppard made a list of other scholarly works this year that were equally worthy of nomination this year
Hugest congrats to all the Eisner nominees for Best Academic/Scholarly Work! 🎉 Some great books in there. But also, here's a (by no means exhaustive) list of fab books from 2021 written/edited/co-edited by women & non-binary scholars that did not get nominated. #ComicsStudies

And this was not the only awards thing happening this week! The Pulitzer Prize for…illustrated reporting and commentary which I guess is what used to be the Political Cartoon category?
*spit take* I JUST WON A PULITZER

But we are ALL winners this week because DC comics announced a series of SWIMSUIT COVERS. There will definitely be a WWAC roundtable about our reactions to all the covers, but here is my favorite.
Swimsuit summertime variants announced!

Does anyone have $3500 they want to lend me so I can buy the original?
