Last Week’s Episode: My Hot Girl Academia

Last Week's Episode

Two things for this Wednesday: I don’t think I’ve seen more than five episodes of Friends in my life, and also say hi if you see me at Flame Con!

The trailer for the second and final season of Emmy-nominated Star Wars Resistance just dropped; the show returns October 6th.

Movies (& Movie Stars)

Dreamboat Henry Golding is in talks for the titular role of the GI Joe spinoff film Snake Eyes, which is tricky for me because I both want him to thrive AND to look at his beautiful face. [THR]

Marvels is unrolling another star-studded podcast (they’re movie stars, these are hard to categorize, whatever), based on Alex Ross and Kurt Busiek’s classic Marvels. Method Man will be playing Ben Urich! Teo Rapp-Olsson (The Deuce) will be Peter Parker, and AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries) will be Marcia Hardesty, and Sue Storm will be voiced by Louisa Krause (Billions, The Girlfriend Experience). [Marvel]

Jason Momoa (Aquaman) has been joined by Justice League costar Ezra Miller to protest construction on Mauna Kea, a mountain sacred to native Hawaiians. Pretty rad! [CinemaBlend]

Marvel is looking for a actor to play “ruler of an ancient, distant kingdom,” preferably someone Asian. It could be Namor, or it could be an unsourced exclusive, but here we are. [GWW]

Idris Elba, in a power move, admits to not having seen Endgame yet, but still thinks Heimdall could still be alive, and he’d absolutely return to the character either for Disney+ or the big screen. Please let him pal around with Loki for a couple episodes at LEAST. I mean, Sif got to show up on Agents of SHIELD. [KTSA]

Noah Hawley, creator of FX’s Legion, still wants to make that Doctor Doom movie. [Deadline]

TV

As Paramount’s Viacom and CBS look to merge (under the header ViacomCBS, which would include Paramount Pictures, CBS, Showtime, Comedy Central, and MTV), their executives look to Star Trek as their tentpole franchise. [Deadline]

Amazon Prime’s new Wheel of Time series dropped a ton of casting announcements today. The cast (beside the already-announced Rosamund Pike) is pretty young and fresh-faced, with only a few credits each. Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) is the only name I recognized (she’ll be playing Egwene Al’Vere). [Variety]

Grab Bag

Ever wanted to carry the cast of Friends around with you? Well now you can, along with their iconic Central Perk coffee shop, in LEGO form. [Pocket Lint]

TIFF is going to screen all 14 hours of Mark Cousins’Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Film. [IndieWire]
