What better way to enjoy cocktails, comics, and swiftly approaching Halloween than with witch comic inspired cocktails? Between Harrow County, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Wytches, Toil & Trouble, and others, there’s plenty out there that helped inspire this installment of Drink Your Comics.
Toil & Trouble by Claire Napier
- Bubble tea tapioca pearls, prepared per packet instructions
- Shot of Kahlua or other coffee liqueur (more or less to your taste)
- Soy milk to fill a tall glass
- 1 fresh egg white
Tapioca bubbles go into your glass (pick one with a fat bulb for best effect). Shake the rest of the ingredients well (without ice). Pour over ice that’s been added to your pearls in the glass. Coffee to keep you toiling, bubbles for your trouble, white bean juice for weirdness and an egg white for power and life! Sip, sip. Spell away.
The Blood of Your Enemies by Catie Coleman
- 1 shot of blood orange vodka
- 1 shot of Chambord (raspberry liqueur)
- Cranberry juice
- Sour mix
After a long day of casting curses and generally being an evil feminist witch, kick back with a blood-themed cocktail that doesn’t feature gross tomato juice. To double down on your spooky misandry, garnish with a tampon while proclaiming death to all men. Sure to be a hit at your monthly coven meeting.
- 2 champagne flutes
- 3 ounces of gin
- 3 ounces of orange juice
- 1 ounce of rosemary simple syrup
- Orange bitters
- Champagne/sparkling wine
This cocktail was inspired by the rosemary growing in my very own witchy herb garden. Pour the gin, orange juice, and rosemary simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Divide the mixture between the two flutes then top with champagne or sparkling wine (prosecco is quite nice with this!). Enjoy with your coven sister and a familiar.
