Kickstarter of the Week: My Japanese Husband Thinks I’m Crazy

Maybe it’s because I have anime on the brain, but somehow the wonderfully sweet and silly “My Japanese Husband Thinks I’m Crazy” Kickstarter found its way to me this week.

Texan in Tokyo KSThe campaign aims to print the comics created by Grace Buchele Mineta, chronicling the “the hilarious misadventures of a Texan girl married to a Japanese businessman, living in Tokyo.” The stories are an autobiographical glimpse into their life covering cultural faux pas, living abroad and being in an intercultural marriage. The book will feature previously published comics from her blog “Texan in Tokyo” and plenty of new comics made for the book. Additionally, it will contain short slice of life type articles.

Backer rewards start at the $3 level for a PDF “short copy” of the book (the $5 level gets you the entire book) ranging to the $500 level where you can be a part-time character in the book. A fun one is the $50 level where you get a signed book with a sketch of yourself on the first page and a postcard from Japan, perfect for the anime lover obsessed with all things related to Japanese culture.

Don’t forgot to check out the super cute “I’m publishing a “Texan in Toyko” comic book!” video. The self-made video features both Grace and her husband, Ryosuke. Tune in at 4:15 to see Ryosuke confess that Grace is actually not that crazy. Just so we know.
