News broke today that Adrianne Palicki will appear as Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, in the second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There is no word yet on how many episodes she will appear in, and no other details were given about how the character will figure into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Probably best known for playing Tyra Collette on Friday Night Lights, Palicki is no stranger to roles in superhero/genre shows. She played Jaye in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation (and is set to appear in its sequel), a would-be Supergirl in a 2004 episode of Smallville, and has appeared as Jessica Moore, ill-fated girlfriend of Sam Winchester, on Supernatural. She was cast as Wonder Woman in the notorious, never-aired 2011 television pilot produced by David E. Kelley, and had a role in a 2006 Aquaman pilot that also failed to go to series.

On a personal note, I met Palicki and several other members of the Friday Night Lights cast in Austin in 2007, as shooting was wrapping up on the show’s first season. She was very friendly, down-to-earth, and fun to talk to. I always enjoy seeing her pop up in things I’m watching, so I hope this role works out well for her. She’s good at her job and I want to see her onscreen more often!

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
