Call for essays: Race, gender, and comics

Next month Women Write About Comics will be talking a lot about intersections of race and gender in comics. We’re looking for some great guest essays to round out our coverage.

We’re specifically interested in:

  • Creator profiles.
  • Critical essays (ex. black masculinity and heroism, the “dragon ladies” of comics, whiteness and geek feminism).
  • Personal essays about the fandom and the industry.

Please note that we’re not looking for the fascinating story of My White Privilege And Me.

If you’re interested, please email me a short proposal (super short!) at mlc.purdy@gmail.com.
