Good morning friends, here we are back at it again in the comics news mines.

This week independent comic shop Desert Island announced that it will be closing at the end of the year. The Williamsburg based shop shared the news via their Instagram where they made clear that the decision was the result of a predatory rent hike. Supporters have suggested various crowdfunding solutions to help either cover the rent or help Desert Island find a new location but as of right now the future of the shop is unclear.

The Beauty, created by Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley, has been given a series order by FX. The adaptation is set to star Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, and Ashton Kutcher, and will be co-created, written, and executive produced by Ryan Murphy.

Finally, if you are a manga fan and local to New York City, Kodansha is hosting its first ever interactive pop-up event. Kodansha House opened on October 4th and runs throughout October. In addition to housing a gallery, cafe, lounge, and manga library the event will host interactive exhibits, workshops, and movie screenings. And if that’s not enough to pique your interest there is also an Akira slide photo op where you can dress up in the jacket so y’know get to it.

That’s all for this week. Be safe and I’ll see you when I see you.
