We are opening with sad news this week as we report the passing of John Cassaday and Karl Moline. Artist John Cassaday, perhaps best known for his work on Astonishing X-Men and Planetary, passed following a short hospital stay. Artist and comic book creator Karl Moline, known for his work with CrossGen Comics and Dark Horse, struggled with long term health conditions. We send our condolences to the families and friends of both.
This weekend the winners of the 2024 Ignatz Awards were announced at Small Press Expo. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in comics and exceptional work that challenges popular notions of what comics can, and should, be.
A live action adaptation of Atlas Comics’ Devilina is being produced by Paramount Pictures. The project is slated to be written by Rebecca Webb, a relative newcomer.
