Good morning! Ya girl is still awake and writing this an hour before publication time, if you ever wonder about the magic behind the scenes. Let’s get to it!
After twenty-two years, Joe Quesada is leaving Marvel Comics. Hired first as EIC, then promoted to Chief Creative Officer, Joe shepherded the Marvel Comics line through someĀ rough years early in his tenure, then managed to preside over Marvel’s corner of a comics renaissance in the late 2000s and throughout the 2010s. He leaves a hell of a legacy.
Of course, he’s not the only one shaking things up: David Dissanayake has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing over at Vault Comics! We’ve been working with David for a couple of years now, so it’s pretty cool to see him moving up like this. Congratulations, David!
After the debacle that was Kickstarter’s attempt to embrace NFTs, we’ve been seeing some diversifying moves in the crowdfunding sphere. First, Iron Circus started hosting their own projects, and now a new competitor has entered the game. Crowdfundr bills itself as a creator-friendly platform, and has leaned on that by bringing in Dave Baker, Jen Vaughn, and Jazzlyn Stone to consult on tools specifically for creators. It’s a very smart move, and I’m pretty excited to see what Crowdfundr can bring to the table (perhaps the budget for an ‘e’?).
That’s what I’ve got! Drink some water, make better life choices than I have this night.
