Good morning friends. As always I hope the weekend has treated you well. Just a little one today, seems everyone is too caught up with ECCC to cause any notable trouble.
This week saw artists Ibrahim Moustafa, Justin Greenwood, Ramon Villalobos, Brian Level, and Tony Gregori launch El Camino Art, a collaborative studio offering comics, original art and prints, and social media content. El Camino Art is, in their own words, “a collective of working-class comic book artists from across the United States … all of us from blue collar backgrounds, and hard-driven toward the same labor of love; being creative professionals.” You can find out more on their website.
Cartoonist and Berryman Award winner Jen Sorensen shared that the speech she gave for the National Press Foundation dinner is available to watch on YouTube.
Finally, past, present, and prospective members of the SCBWI are invited to sign an open letter calling on the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators to issue a collective statement in opposition to the massive and incomprehensible violence against children taking place in Palestine, Gaza, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, with a call for ceasefire. If you are able to sign or share details, please do.
That’s all for this week. Take it easy and I’ll catch up with you next month.
