Party like it’s 1973 with AHOY Comics snappy and stylish new dramedy, G.I.L.T. by Eisner-nominated comics writer and novelist Alisa Kwitney (Rogue: Untouched, Mystik U) and artist Mauricet (Star Wars Adventures, Dastardly & Muttley), and featuring variant covers by Jill Thompson.

“Meet Hildy Winters, a bawdy, outspoken old broad with a pack-a-day habit and a very desirable apartment on New York City’s Upper West Side that has its very own time-travel portal. Hildy belongs to G.I.L.T., the Guild of Independent Lady Temporalists. Their prime directive: Do not alter the past without co-op board approval!”

To get you in the mood for the first of the five-issue series, available now for pre-order, have a listen to this exclusive annotated playlist created by Alisa Kwitney.

“Reverend Lee” by Roberta Flack: When it comes to funkalicious songs about foxy men of the cloth, there is none to match this seventies classic. Play it whenever the mustached Mr. Man starts talking and let go of your hang ups.

“I am Woman” by Helen Reddy: Ditch the bra, slip on your crocheted halter top and belt out this foot-tapping ballad of emancipation. Pairs nicely with a tour of Hildy’s gallery of vintage Womyn Magazine covers.

“The Morning After” by Maureen McGovern: From the opening harp riff to the judicious use of harpsichord, you know that your ship may have been turned upside down by a giant wave, but if Shelly Winters can heave herself up that artificial Christmas Tree to safety, so can you.

“I’m a Woman” by Maria Muldaur: Half gendered laundry list of chores, half humble-brag, this is the song you sing as you head to a job you don’t respect yourself for doing, like Trista. If you do respect your job, try Muldaur’s “It Ain’t The Meat, it’s the Motion” from the same album, to remind yourself that Grandma had way, way more sex than you.

“Right Place Wrong Time” by Dr. John: Back before cellphones made it possible to change plans every two seconds, this gravely ode to bad timing expressed the philosophical acceptance everyone had to cultivate. Everyone except Lady Temporalists, that is.

“Puppy Love” by Donny Osmond: Remember, puppy love inevitably ages into overly toothy adolescent romance, then into nervous, defensive/aggressive mature affection that never got properly trained.

“Yesterday Once More” by the Carpenters: Play this while walking out the back door of an Upper West Side apartment and you just might find yourself transported back to a time when the only thing covering people’s faces was a mustache.
