Light on news this week, but thankfully, it’s moslty on the positive side!
Comic Sales Keep Increasing
Stuck in lockdown? Bored? Read comics! Which may be what a lot of people have been doing with Publisher’s Weekly reporting a 6% continued increase in sales of comic books in 2020, reaching approximately $1.28 billion, according to data gathered by ICv2 and Comichron.
The Other Orange Cat
After first writing about Heathcliff comics for SOLRAD, Andrew Neal got the opportunity to chat with Peter Gallagher about his work on the series.
The Return of Comic-Con@Home
With conventions still in lockdown limbo, Comic-Con is taking no chances, choosing to maintain the virtual format it implemented last year. Comic-Con@Home will take place July 23-25, featuring loads of panels to choose from. It will also see the return of the Her Universe fashion show.
Third Planet vs. the Crowne Plaza
Houston comic shop, Third Planet Sci-Fi and Fantasy Superstore, has filed a lawsuit against Crowne Plaza River Oaks Hotel for damages to the store. The hotel owner has dismissed the store’s history and value to the community, so the store owners enlisted the help of local artists to illustrate just how wrong the hotel owner is. The 23-page amended complaint includes a full-colour illustrated representation of the store’s grievances.
Third Planet's lawsuit against the Crowne Plaza is a marvel of clear legal writing, but that's not all – it's ALSO A COMIC BOOK ILLUSTRATING THE STORE'S COMPLAINT, starting on P6.https://t.co/EA7A9kf9DY
