Support Artists and Get Involved With Digital ECCC

In the wake of the news that ECCC has been postponed/cancelled until the summer, the comics community has begun to use the magic of the internet to craft a virtual experience for both fans and creators who will no longer be attending the show. For your ease we’ve put together a roundup of digital programming and digital artists stores/websites so that you can be involved with the burgeoning E-ECCC, and support artists who have been affected by the show’s cancellation.

Digital programming:

From a publisher’s pop up shop to a little portfolio review thread from a talented big two artist, the comics community has come together to put together some great programming to keep the vibe and tone of ECCC alive this year.

Oni Press Virtual Pop Up

This pop up shop was established before the con was cancelled and when it was set up, the publisher stated, “Welcome to the Oni Press #ECCC2020 Pop Up Webshop. While we had to cancel our appearance due to concerns around the COVID-19 virus, we worked overtime to bring the Oni Press convention experience to you as best we could. Please support our creators and their work, and grab a limited show exclusive right here!”

“The Very Very Virtual Shopping Network”

“This three-day virtual alternative to #ECCC is a QVC-style shopping network featuring artists, writers, and publishers who had to cancel their ECCC appearances.”

A hashtag organized by Stephanie Cooke which will center on showcasing programming and work by artists who were planning to attend ECCC. Over at Cooke’s website Creator Resource the team are collating resources for those who are trying to enjoy #ECCCOnline.

Steve Lieber Portfolio Review (Thread)

Artist and comics creator extraordinaire Steve Lieber was going to be giving portfolio reviews at the convention but as he wasn’t going he shared some tips in a really thoughtful and generous Twitter thread.

Iron Circus and ComfyCon 2020

Like many of us Iron Circus were planning to be at ECCC, but now the publisher is putting on a radical digital convention which sounds amazing. “We’re planning 3 days of live streams on the Comfy Con Twitch channel ( March 13-15, 12pm-6pm CST. The live streams will be like an audio-visual radio show or live podcast where we feature creators who also had to cancel their ECCC showing. Joining us so far will be Steve Leiber, Chris Roberson, Lin Visel, Genue Revuelta, C. Spike Trotman, Kate Leth, and we’d love to invite more. We’ll also be promoting on the Iron Circus Twitter account using the #comfycon2020 hashtag, and will have a dedicated URL as well.”

Digital Artists Alley

As creators have shared their portfolios and e-shops we’ve collected them and will be adding more as we find them! As we’re just finding these via Twitter we have in no way collated a definitive list, so if you want to have your name and info added to/changed in our our digital artists alley check out the information at the bottom of this piece.
