There are a lot of changes going on here at WWAC. Most notably, Megan Purdy, our founder and glorious leader is stepping down, along with editorial powerhouse, Claire Napier. They have built quite a legacy for the more than 300 writers who have wandered into  WWAC and found a home under their wise wings.

We are sad to see them go, but happy too, because they are moving on to some truly amazing things! You can still find Megan’s expert perspective and special brand of snark over at our sister site, Ms En Scene, and The MNT, a monthly comics newsletter that you need to sign up for, and she has ventured into the world of zine publishing at Bleating Heart Press, which has just published Claire’s first comic, Dash Dearborne and the Unexpected Earthman. Dash Dearborne is available for pre-order now and you can also pick up copies of Secrets of the Goat People, BHP’s first published zines.

I found a home at WWAC back in 2014. Claire and Megan welcomed me into this fold and have shared their expertise and experience with me and I have learned so much from their unique perspectives. Now, as they both move on to new and exciting ventures, they have entrusted me with the care of WWAC’s future as I take on the mantle of Publisher. I am honoured by their faith in me, and deeply moved by the support of the staff and contributors who are taking these big transitions in stride, including our upcoming move to a new host.

We’ve got some big shoes to fill with Megan and Claire leaving, but we’re pretty confident in our continued focus on spotlighting and raising the voices of women and non binary people in the industry.  Heather Wells is taking over as Features Editor. Nola Pfau will be my right and left hands as Managing Editor. Kayleigh Hearn remains our Reviews Editor and Kat Overland our Small Press Editor. Bookmarked will be rejoining the WWAC fold with Christa Seeley and Paige Allen at the helm. And Zainabb Hull is supporting us all as Editorial Assistant.

We are very excited about what the future will bring for WWAC and hope you will join us as we turn the page!
