Shinbun Saturday: Dark Horse to Republish Kenji Tsuruta Fantasy Series

Dark Horse acquires Wandering Island for North American publication

The publisher hopes to tap into the wide popularity of Kenji Tsuruta’s previous series Spirit of Wonder with this new title. Fans of Kiki’s Delivery Service may find their interest peaked by Mikura Amelia’s story, as she sets out in her seaplane to find the mysterious titular “wandering island.” The first volume is set to be released on July 19, 2016.

Mobile game Puzzle and Dragons expands into manga series

Momota Inoue’s manga adaptation of the hit game will precede the release of a new Nintendo 3DS game in 2016. Gung Ho’s continued expansion of the game franchise will likely see more players trying out new platforms, as well as drawing in manga readers who may not necessarily gravitate towards video games.

Sci-fi manga by Mamoru Nagano returns from hiatus

The Five-Star Stories had a brief return in 2013, after a hiatus that started in 2006 after the release of the 12th volume. Nagano will resume publication just in time for the manga’s 30th anniversary in 2016. Volume 14 will be released in March, following several rereleases of previous volumes with unpublished art.
