The Lady Killer trade paperback came out this month, and in celebration (because Ginnis loooooooves Lady Killer — see her reviews), she requested Lady Killer themed cocktails from our boozy WWAC writers. Whether these cocktails are vintage influenced or more conceptual, you can find one to appease your inner lady assassin.
Amanda Vail’s Grandmother’s Daily 3pm Toddie
In celebration of Lady Killer, I give you my grandmother’s daily 3pm “toddie time” drink: the Dry Manhattan. She insisted that it be garnished with olives instead of the traditional lemon rind, and if the waiter brought her a drink with the wrong garnish she wouldn’t hesitate to send it back. Toast your grandmothers and drink up!
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Canadian whisky
- 1 oz. dry vermouth
- Dash of bitters
Directions
Serve on the rocks and garnished with two to three pimento olives on a cocktail stick.
Birdi Lulu’s Easy Bourbon Cocktail for the Busy Lady Assassin
Killing ain’t easy and neither is finding time to mix a decent cocktail when acquiring your target. For the assassin always on the move, consider a bourbon on the rocks. The ice will help to cool and hydrate you without slowing you down.
Ingredients
- 3 oz. preferred bourbon
- 2 ice cubes
Directions
Place ice cubes in tumbler, add bourbon, and refresh your senses.
Melinda Pierce’s Lady Assassin Pick-Me-Up
I pulled open my pantry and thought, if I’d just come home from taking out a target, but still had all that ironing to do, I’d need a serious pick me up. Thus the Pick-Me-Up was born.
Ingredients
- 6 oz. instant coffee cooled in the fridge
- 2 oz. Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka
Directions
Stir and enjoy. Note: If you do not take your coffee black, add your usual creamer and sweetener before and allow it to cool.
