Female comic creators from around the world share their personal stories about beauty in a brand new anthology, Dirty Diamonds #6.
In the Dirty Diamonds #6: Beauty Kickstarter campaign, editors Kelly Phillips and Claire Folkman explain they’re looking to publish the next issue of their all-girl comic anthology. Since 2011, Dirty Diamonds has been giving women a dedicated outlet for telling stories which highlight both the talents and experiences of women in comics today. Each issue features semi-autobiographical comics from women around the world, focusing on a single theme and for this issue it’s beauty.
Dirty Diamonds #6 has doubled in size since the last issue, with over 50 contributors. Over a third of Kickstarter goal funds are earmarked to fully compensate the contributors; the second biggest slice goes to printing.
Backer rewards start at the $5 level for a website thank you and run to the $200 level for distribution packs of five copies each of Dirty Diamonds #5 and #6, plus the collected #1-4 omnibus. Snag a digital copy for $10 or get the physical version at the $30 level. If you want to splurge, at the $175 level Dirty Diamonds #6 cover artist and Lumberjanes contributor Carolyn Nowak will sketch in your copy of Dirty Diamonds #6.
