Another Mighty Marvel Monday: MCU Edition!

It’s been a busy week for Marvel, what with the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere madness, but Marvel has managed to drop a few other announcements this week as well.

Just when you thought that Daredevil couldn’t be any more awesome, Netflix announced that they were going to add audio descriptions for the visually impaired, starting with, appropriately enough, Daredevil.

There’s been speculation that Marvel is trying to get Nicole Perlman (of Guardians of the Galaxy fame) and Meg LeFauve (of Pixar’s Inside Out) to write the Captain Marvel project, and that makes me all kinds of excited. More women writers writing about women ftw.

John Ridley is developing some kind of Marvel project with ABC that will center around an existing Marvel character, which, when viewed in conjunction with the previously announced spinoff for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. does not bode well for the renewal of Agent Carter, much to my despair.

But the story that gets me the most excited is the new Fantastic Four trailer that was released yesterday. I’m actually so excited I wrote up a separate news post because my excitement could not be contained to one paragraph in my weekly Marvel column.

It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in on Marvel’s popularity on tumblr, but I was not disappointed to discover that Daredevil debuted at #7 and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is holding on in the top 20 television fandoms.

As for movies, it is not at all surprising that The Avengers: Age of Ultron is #1 this week, and related MCU properties (The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor, and Iron Man) are still in the top 20.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted an hour-long Avengers special featuring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johannsen, and Jeremy Renner, of which there are now official clips up on YouTube. I recommend the Family Feud clip but the entire episode was hilarious, barring one horrible moment when Jimmy Kimmel attempted to shock Robert Downey Jr and Mark Ruffalo with fanart of the Science Bros ship.

Mark Ruffalo’s response, however, was probably the best thing ever.

Nice try, Jimmy, but Ruffalo has a tumblr.

Thank you, Mark Ruffalo.
