Last Discworld novel The Shepherd’s Crown will still be published

Terry Prachett’s passing was a shock to thousands of fans, but they don’t need to say goodbye to the Discworld universe just yet: artist Paul Kidby has confirmed that he is working on illustrations for the last novel Prachett was able to complete.

Joan Didion essay optioned for film

“Goodbye to All That” joins Didion’s novel A Book of Common Prayer in being optioned for film. The autobiographical essay centres on Didion’s time in New York before her switch to Los Angeles in 1964. It will be Carlson Sullivan Pictures LLC’s first project.

Alabama agency closes inquiry into Harper Lee deal

Controversy has dogged the news of a second Harper Lee novel since its announcement, but the Alabama Securities Commissioner has closed their inquiry into whether the deal may have involved financial fraud. Questions had surrounded the announcement of the new book, especially after Lee’s friends and neighbors expressed concern over Lee’s ability to consent to the publication.

George R.R. Martin skipping Comic-Con to finish Winds of Winter

Martin will not be at HBO’s jam-packed panel for Game of Thrones, nor will he be making an appearance at World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga. That said–

“Should I complete and deliver Winds of Winter before these cons roll round, I reserve the right to change my mind.”
