In the mid-1940s, Jill Trent, Science Sleuth was a comic book heroine who caught criminals using her smarts and science. 65 years later, she’s in the public domain and modernized for today’s readers.
Since 2012 D.M. Higgins has been editing the Super Dames blog highlighting women in comics throughout history with occasional commentary on gender issues in comics. Expanding on that passion, D.M. has launched the Jill Trent, Science Sleuth # 1 Kickstarter, aiming to print a 28-page comic book featuring five new stories by five creative teams. With five different versions of the Science Sleuths, it opens up the characters to diversity while celebrating women in science and female characters in comics.
The funds from the Kickstarter go to covering the cost of printing and shipping and compensating the team.
