I have an issue with J.K. Rowling claiming diversity in her world after the fact. I think it’s easy to say diversity exists — but taking the time to develop and write characters of diverse backgrounds is a different matter. No more re-writing once the book is published!

Boys Will Read If It’s On An eBook

I’m glad we know what will get boys to read. Hopefully we’ll have as much energy dedicated to how girls are taught in schools re: the math and sciences. One step at a time.

Awesome 2014 List of People Who Kicked Ass in The Book World

A lot of crappy things happened this year in the book world but Brenna Clarke Grey’s piece on Bookriot looks at the awesome people who made the book world a better place either through their books or through game changing campaigns. This makes me feel all gooey inside.

This is the last book beat of 2014! Let’s hope 2015 is even better.
