I’ve recently been working on a new comic resources site, and I’m almost finished! Decided the site needed some ‘me’ in there so I took some selfies of my favorite t-shirt, Nightwing. Got this baby at the Superherostuff booth at Wizard Con two years ago. Finding shirts in my size is near impossible since I’m 4’11 with a waist of 25 inches. I also hung all my geek related pictures on the wall of my new apartment. Yes, that is a framed picture of Wonder Woman behind me.

The Toronto International Book Fair wrapped up on Sunday, November 16, and the highlight of the fair was getting to meet Maggie Stiefvater, She Who Bathes in Readers’ Tears (her words, not mine). As you can see from the stack of books, I am an ardent admirer of her work, and by ardent, I mean I may or may not have cried a little when I met her. Have you read Sinner yet? Go read Sinner.

Last weekend, I set out to show my guests that I know the true meaning of hospitality and made them some cookies. Everything went so wrong that it became right again, and they look like something from Troll 2. I call them “Nilbog Nuggets”, and they taste slightly better than they look.

Since I’m gaming 24/7, I’ve been unwinding with some of my hobbies. Here is the shawl I’ve started: I do not wear shawls. I’m not sure if I’m the type of person to wear one. But, I have this beautiful yarn that’s been crying out to be knitted into a shawl for a while now (specifically this one), and so we’ll see if it stays with me or ends up as a gift.
I also have soldiered on with the chainmaille, although this is more decorative and less practical than the bits I made for my partner’s and my Halloween costume. These tiny little blocks took 2 hours and are far from being the pretty bracelet that will eventually grace my wrist.

I had to take a break from Fear Street for something well…more substantial. While on holiday, I have been reading David Michaelis’ bio of Charles Schulz, Schulz and Peanuts. It’s a VERY thorough bio at 600 plus pages. Peanuts was probably my first comic experience, and its existentialism masquerading behind the simplicity of a “kid’s” comic has always resonated with me.
I haven’t finished it yet. At first I was kinda put off by the writing style, but now I am really into it!
Ginnis- crazy, I just finished Schulz and Peanuts, too.
