You might be familiar with this new character if you’re a classic fan of the photojournalist Fran Frazer. Fran returned to the pages of Archie comics in World of Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #136 with the creative team Ian Flynn and artist Holly G, and someone from her world appears in Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #351, with writer/penciller Bill Golliher.
The reintroduction of Fran Frazier to the world of Archie has definitely been going swimmingly, and in Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #351, audiences will get to meet her cat, Stinger! And you’ll get your first glimpse at him by scrolling down!
Stinger pops up for the first time in the middle of a big mystery, and he’s helping the Archie gang fight crime and save the seaside amusement park. To find out if they succeed, you’ll have to read the new story! It features writing and pencils from Golliher, colors from Glen Whitmore, and letters by Jack Morelli.
“Stinger the cat came about from Editor-in-Chief Mike Pellerito’s suggestion of giving Fran Frazer a pet sidekick. I did a little research on podcast terms, something I figured Fran would be very familiar with. I discovered a ‘stinger’ is an audio clip used to create interest for an upcoming segment of a podcast. I thought it sounded like a great cat name, too. I then decided some distinctive markings on Stinger would tie in nicely, as well; hence, the rough looking play symbol on each side of his body, markings that make he and Fran an adventurous duo that was meant to be,” said Golliher, in an exclusive statement given to WWAC ahead of the issue!
