Welcome to the Archie Comics Pubwatch for the month of January! I’m Lisa, reporting from a corner booth at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, and here’s this month’s news! In this month’s Archie Comics Pubwatch, we ring in a brand-new year with another title resurrected from the Red Circle Comics File!

The Fox: Family Values One-Shot Is Set to be published in May 2022

A figure wearing an all-black head to toe costume with a yellow insignia on the chest dashes forward from the darkness; behind them are red-shaded yellow letters spelling out the name 'The Fox.'

Archie Comics continues to dive into the Red Circle Comics vault, bringing back to life The Fox, a superhero comic centered around a crime-fighting family.

The Fox revolves around the Patton family — The Fox, She-Fox and Ghost Fox — who fight crime as a family unit. The revival is a one-shot that features a new story written by Dean Haspiel and Vito Delsante, with a retro The Fox story by Alex Toth. The issue features art by Haspiel and Richard Ortiz, colors by Matt Herms, and letters by Jack Morelli. Haspiel has also drawn the mainline issue’s cover, with a variant offered up by George Caltsoudas.

The issue is slated to street on May 18th.

Archie Comics Tweets of the Month

Homestuck is serious business.

Sugar Sugar of the Month

Veronica lodge, a brunette white teenager, wears a long-sleeved red shirt and black jeans. Beside her is betty cooper, a blonde white teenager wearing a long-sleeved pink blousee and purple pat. They're both leaning against the number 300, which is outlined in yellow. At their feet are balloons with the faces of their friends printed upon them

Betty and Veronica find themselves fantasizing about what it would be like if they were really sisters as they prepare a joint anniversary party for their parents. Naturally, being ‘real’ sisters is a lot harder than being best friends — especially because both girls still have a major crush on Archie! This is an adorable story, and the best of the batch of fresh tales released in January.

Hotdogs and Hotshots

Archie Andrews, a red-haired teenager wearing a black tux with blue highlights, sits between white brunette teenager veronica lodge, who wears a pale blue dress, and Betty cooper, who wears a teal dress with a peter pan collar, her blond hair done up in a ponytail. They share a coke float together

I’ve been waiting for ages for the Archie Milestones series to return to print, and miraculously this month they have! The first collection out contains iconic stories printed in the 1960s, with one new story featuring the Archies trying their best to make it to a booking at a very important festival — Woodstock!

Archie Andrews - a redheaded white teenager in a blue longsleeved shirt and grey jeans - criss-crosses his arms to hand his two crushes their gifts. He hands a heart-shaped box of candy to Blonde white teenager Betty Cooper, who wears a red sweater with the sleeves pushed up and blue jeans, and a bouquet of roses to Veronica lodge, a dark-haired white teenager with a purple dress and a blue belt. Red hearts float around his head, and he stands before a large pink heart and a pale yellow background.

Archie decides to save his money this Valentine’s Day, deciding to show Veronica and Betty his love without lavishing them with expensive gifts. This will thusly avoid kowtowing to the commercialism of the season. Unfortunately for him, Veronica and Betty have teamed up to buy him an expensive new present. This is an early Valentine’s Day story that delightfully captures what makes the Veronica/Betty/Archie triangle so much fun.

Picks From The Timecops

Archie Andrews, a white redheaded tenager in a blue and yellow letterman jacket, poses beside white brunette teenager veronica Lodge in a pink sweater, brown pants and a blue blouse. They're making a heart shape with their hands in a picture. atop the picture is a box of candy with a picture of jughead jones - a white brunet teenager with a grey fool's cap and a white shirt with a skinny black tie - blushing as he looks at betty cooper, a white teenager with a blonde ponytail and a pink blouse. They stand before a heart-shaped design. From the box a bunch of conversation heart candies spill from the box against a pale pink background. Phrases like 'be mine' and 'jug' are printed on the muticolored hearts in red writing.

Can Archie Comics threepeat the successes they’ve had with their Halloween-themed and holiday-themed anthology issues? This issue features three different (possible) romances, all of which take place at the Riverdale Carnival. Jughead describes his ideal date to Betty, Archie and Veronica have a tiff which Kevin Keller hopes to solve while dealing with a date of his own.  I remain hopeful and my expectations are high.

Archie Andrews, a white, redheaded teenager, stands t the center of a cluster of hearts which depict his friends and love interests. He shrugs and holds his hands up, gesturing toward veronica lodge and betty cooper. The background is yellow fading into blue

Considering his romantic history, it was kind of inevitable that Archie Andrews was going to hook up with a gal like Taylor Swi — I mean Taylor Sweet someday, wasn’t it? Archie kept their romance a secret, but Taylor’s latest song is totally about him! Fortunately, no one knows – and he definitely wants to keep it a secret. But with Betty, Veronica, and everyone else grooving to the music, can he possibly keep their brief connection on the down low?

Archie Andrews, a redheaded white teenager, is skiing down an enormous, snow-covered mountain at an angle. Wearing an orange sweater, a purple scarf and grey jeans, he perches on brown skis. His golden retriever dog, vegas, is strapped onto his back in a baby carrier, and at a distance his friend - white, black-haired teen jughead jones - skis down the slope with his own dog, a white dog named hotdog, pearched on the back of them while leaning on his shoulders. Jughead is wearing a red sweater and black pants, with a grey fool's cap on his head. The sky behind them is orange and dotted with clouds, and there are green pine trees in the distance.

Are you a sucker for stories about Archie’s connection with his best four-legged pal, Vegas? Do you enjoy the Pureheart the Powerful/Superteens alternate Archieverse? This issue combines those two pieces of lore when Vegas uncovers Archie’s secret identity and tries to become Puerheart’s sidekick. Hijinks will likely ensue.

A group of white teenagers are trying to skate on a pale blue pond. Reggie mantle, a white black-haired teenmager in a blue hoodie and jeans, cups his hands around his mouth and shouts ha ha archie needs help! Archie andrews - the red-haired white teenager he's addressing - is wearing a yellow sweater and blue jeans, and is surrounded by two female teenagers, betty cooper, blonde and in a red skating outfit and hat, and veronica lodge, in a purple sweater, skirt, and beret with black tights. She is white with dark hair, betty is blonde and white. Archie says 'Believe Me, I don't Mind!'

Betty and Veronica compete for the attention of…a guy who’s not Archie?! Gasp!

When a new skating instructor comes to town, Veronica tries to attract his attention by acting like a total skating neophyte. Meanwhile, Betty decides to meet him on equal footing by using her prodigious skating skills. May the best teen win.
