It’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Week here at Mighty Marvel Monday!
“When is it not?” an observant reader may ask, to which I answer: Shhh. Maybe make up some of Annie’s recipes on this week’s Avengers-themed Cook Your Comics.
At this time next week I, and many others, will have seen The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Some of the other lovely women of WWAC will be reviewing the movie, and I look forward to reading them (and avoiding them until after May 3rd). But in the anticipation of the movie’s release, I have decided to concentrate on the non-Age of Ultron news just to prove that there are, actually, things happening other than AoU.
I know. It surprised me, too.
Firstly: Proof that I am psychic or Marvel just likes trolling me
So, last week I mentioned the rumor that Marvel was going to announce Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFavre as the writers for the Captain Marvel movie, and the very same day it was announced as fact.
Clearly, I’m psychic. Or I have superpowers. Or Marvel is reading MMM and announcing things to screw with me. (Or Marvel just likes making their announcements on Mondays and has no idea I even exist.)
Either way, I’m testing this theory by discussing the newest theory that the unnamed John Ridley project for ABC is going to be Ms. Marvel in the hopes that the exact same thing happens. We already wrote something about the rumors here, but I am counting on the magic of Mighty Marvel Monday to help make this real.
We shall see.
Other things of note that happened this past week
Iceman is gay. We talked about it.
The short list for the new Peter Parker was released. We talked about it.
Daredevil has been renewed for a second season and will also have new showrunners. This seems like it could only be good news for many reasons.
Marvel and Telltale games are going to make something amazing. Also, probably something incredibly complicated. I say this with affection, because I was once going to play the Game of Thrones game, but it took us all the time we had allotted just to punch out the pieces and read the instructions, so we never got around to actually playing.
C2E2 somehow got to be the con where Marvel announced seven new comics titles. The one I’m most excited for is the Secret Love romance anthology that has been teased to have some kind of story about Young Avengers America Chavez and Kate Bishop. Please, please, Marvel gods, let it be real.
ICYMI
Okay, okay, I can’t end today’s post without one, tiny, Age of Ultron-related thing. Mostly because I did not know that this was happening prior to being told, since there is so much AoU noise happening.
Remember last year when Captain America: The Winter Soldier happened, and then it happened on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? It was, possibly, the happiest I’ve been as a fangirl of that series with the exception of Lady Sif’s appearances.
This week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is tied to Age of Ultron, and it’s my hope that the remaining episodes will be as well. I have no idea just how tied the episode is going to be, but I am darn well going to be caught up just in case.
You’re welcome.
