Or However Many I Feel Like, And They May Not All Be Facts
Welcome back to By The Numbers, the column where I count things in the first 5 pages of this week’s new comics from DC! This column will contain spoilers, but they’ll all be from the 5-page section of the book available in regular press reviews, so I won’t be spoiling anything DC hasn’t already.
This week, I’ve got a pretty short list of new issues, and they’re mostly “other” issues: two digital-firsts, a mini-series, and a Young Animals book. Remember that I only cover half the books; the others are reported on much better by Cori McCreery.
Main Ongoing Titles
Batman #28
Number of pages it took me to realize they were cross-cutting between different scenes: 3 (I thought it was some kind of “madness” thing reflecting Gordon’s inner feelings, all symbolic-like. The Joker’s in it!)
Cyborg #15
Number of ominous warnings about “the singularity”: 4
Nightwing #26
Number of panels showing Nightwing’s butt: .5, because it’s obscured by tasteful steam
Number of panels in which Huntress is positioned higher in the frame: 8, plus one where she’s so far above him she’s not even in the panel except for her hands
Other Titles
Bane: Conquest #4
Number of Bane’s original creators working on this book: 2 out of 3
Number of panels in which Catwoman looks stunning while bundled up in a winter coat: 7 (all of them)
Bombshells #32
(which collects #95-97 of the digital edition)
Number of tearful, melodramatic apologies: 4
Number of times Harley shuts up a bloviating man: 1, and it is very sweet
Injustice 2 #7
Number of scowls in a single rainy funeral Batman scene: 17!
Shade the Changing Girl #11
Number of her trademark blobby psychedelic shapes: 45
Number of them in Mysterious and Sinister Vials: 7
