The DC Daily Planet – Divergence! Wait, no.

My First Book of Girl Power Julie Merberg DC Comics Downtown Bookworks 2014

Look, I know there’s only one real piece of news out of the DC PR machine today, but there’s more to talk about that just The Rock’s Shazam movie, and whether or not it’ll be independent from the rest of the DC oeuvre, okay?

(As a side note, do you ever find you self-trend specific words? That’s the fourth time I’ve written “oeuvre” this week. How much call is there for that particular word normally?)

For one, we should probably discuss CONVERGENCE.

Alright, so, here’s the breakdown as I understand it: DC’s main books will go on hiatus and Resurgence will run “an 8-part series and 40 brand-new 2-part miniseries” while the company piles everything in a U-Haul and takes a cross-country roadtrip to find their new offices…and themselves.

Basically, REMINISCENCE will throw together a bunch of old-school DC world and characters. Hey, as long as they give me a Superman still married to Lois Lane, I’ll be pretty happy.

Here’s the first promo image, showcasing the scattered worlds:

LUMINESCENCE kicks off April 1, 2015, and is apparently not a painstakingly planned April Fool’s joke. Seems like a missed opportunity to me, but so far DC hasn’t used any of the suggestions I’ve put in my homemade DC Suggestion Box.

How do you feel about CONVERGENCE? Happy? Excited? Worried? Apathetic? Talk to me, caped crusaders. I’m here for you.
