At WWAC we know how to dress to impress as seen here in Sunday Art Gala: Dressing for the Hunger Games, December 7, 2014,
I asked the women of WWAC to suit up for Panem. Here’s how they’re dressing for the Hunger games.
Claire: What if [the worst]? If I have to go to the woods to play at murders, I don’t want rocks dropped on me, I don’t want to get cold or stay wet. Luxury & laughs before I die.
Skipping right to the end of the year with New Years Eve plans? If you want a pleasant one don’t miss these great rules from Romona, December 8, 2014,
New Year’s Eve. It hasn’t been fun since I was nine years old, the year I covered myself in party streamers, and ran around and around my parents and their friends, while they sang Latvian drinking songs. There were a few other semi-good times between NYE 1992 and the aughts, but not many.
Some highlights from the past decade are:
2002
My housemates and I threw a big party, but nobody showed. We listened to music and moped collectively.
2004
I went to my boyfriend’s party, at which I was the only woman in a house with 20 guys. One announced to the room he was going to fuck me. My boyfriend kicked him out of the house, and the guy lurked outside until one of his friends let him back in, at which time he accused me of all manner of unseemly acts. I did not have a car, we were out in the middle of nowhere, and I had to wait until the morning for someone sober to drive me away. READ MORE
And last but not least, how does your local comic book store compare to this review of Pieces & Pages? December 8, 2014,
There are a lot of comic book shops between Ann Arbor’s Vault of Midnight and Dearborn’s Green Brain Comics, and after moving to Wayne County I taste-tested most of them Goldilocks style. Some retailers have awesome title selections, but no event offerings. Others have both of those features, but bizarrely do not offer pull lists. Then, some offer all three, but staff unfriendly clerks. I breathed a huge sigh of relief after giving Pieces & Pages a try.
The staff is totally approachable and conscientious of customer service. Any issue I request is ordered, my pull list is easily amenable, and our counter chit-chats are delightful. The look of the store itself is minimalistic and stream-lined, featuring highly browsable shelves. Large windows flood the store with natural light and it’s made even cheerier by the orange and blue color scheme. Plus, they offer tons of events! Tabletop games, local author visits, contests, a monthly Kid’s Day, Magic the Gathering tournaments, and more! There is much to love in this fun little store. READ MORE
