Happy Wednesday, gaming lovelies! It’s been a while since I’ve crashed your screens. This week’s column brings on the nostalgia of my youth, pokes fun at the gaming industry and other fun news you can use. Read on for more!
Yup, I’m old enough to remember gaming on the Atari 2600. Unlike the announcement of classic NES mini console, the new Ataribox barely stirs excitement in me. I admit, I’m curious, but even the 21 second preview leaves me scratching my head as to what the heck this thing will actually do.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch Devolver Digital’s E3 press conference, go take a peek now. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. (For those of you at work, skip over the first 30 seconds to miss the intro f-bombs.) Anywho, games press conferences that poke fun at the circus press conferences rank high in my book. Even better is hearing about the process from Digital Devolver’s Nigel Lowrie. Non-process loving folks, I admit the interview is a little dry, skip feel free to skip around.
And the envelope, please… The honor of this year’s award goes to the tile-laying game, Kingdomino. The family-friendly 2-4 player game beat out Magic Maze and Race to El Dorado. The prestigious Spiel des Jahres award for tabletop games has been presented for almost 40 years.
