Aozora Yell live action adaptation out in August 2016
Fans of the manga won’t have to wait long to see their favourite characters again, with the film announcement coming on the heels of Aozora Yell‘s final compiled volume. The last issue was released in October 2015, wrapping up Tsubasa’s story, and more details on the film will be available in Bessatsu Magazine‘s January 13 issue.
Grave of the Fireflies author passes away
Akiyuki Nosaka was 85 at his passing on December 9, 2015. Grave of the Fireflies was his best-loved work, with a Studio Ghibli film that helped cement his legacy in Japan and around the world. The novel was based on his own life after World War II.
Comixology begins offering manga from Vertical
Among the titles included are Ajin: Demi Human, Drops of God, and Knights of Sidonia. Osamu Tezuka titles are also available from Digital Media Publishing on the same platform.
Human Centipede film gets manga adaptation
If the horrors of the movie weren’t enough for some viewers, they can check out the Human Centipede manga penned by Ryuta Yoshinaga–the first issue was released in Nemesis Magazine on December 9. While the original films were set in North America, Yoshinaga’s story takes place in a Japanese mountain village.
Seven Seas licenses several new series
The first volume of paranormal demon-hunter manga Magia the Ninth, and a deluxe trim-size volume of shoujo comic Please Tell Me! Galko-chan, will be released on November 22, 2016. Galko-chan is also Seven Seas’s first all-colour manga publication.
