Kids Can Press, is the largest Canadian-owned children’s book publisher, with over 700 books in print. They’re the people who brought us Scaredy Squirrel, Franklin the Turtle and other international favourites. In 40 years they’ve published a wide range of picture books, non fiction and fiction for young readers, including a number of graphic novels.
And as of this week, a selection of their graphic novels are now available through Comixology.
“We are always on the lookout for creative and effective ways of getting the work of our creators into the hands of readers… Having our graphic novels on comiXology allows us to speak directly to the target market segment — it’s a great fit.”
– Lisa Lyons Johnston, President, Kids Can Press
There are currently three series available, the Three Thieves series, written and illustrated by Scott Chantler (Northwest Passage), a slapstick comedy about circus performers on the lam, A Binky Adventure, written and illustrated by Ashley Spires, about a cat who is protecting his house/space station from alien invasion and the Bigfoot Boy series, written by J. Torres (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight) and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks (Adventures of Superhero Girl), in which a ten year old boy develops the ability to turn into Bigfoot.
Being available on Comixology is a great opportunity for these titles, as it extends their reach worldwide and opens up a whole new audience for them. I hope a lot of people take this opportunity to discover some really great, all ages comics. And I hope we don’t have to wait long for more Kids Can Press titles to appear on the site (especially the 2008 title, No Girls Aloud)
