Not a lot happening over at the erstwhile Action Comics this week, crusaders, and I’m a bit crunched for time, so today’s DCDP is going to highlight two great shippy moments from this week.
Starting off strong, right out of the gate, we finally have confirmation that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy aren’t just best buds. When asked by a fan whether Harley and Ivy are girlfriends, Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner had a crystal-clear answer:
Yes, they are Girlfriends without the jealousy of monogamy. @jpalmiotti @AmandaRantsAlot #HarleyQuinnChat https://t.co/n86jApADCi

Fans have been wishing for clarification on this relationship ever since this page popped up in Harley Quinn #2, way back in 2o13:
But maybe Harley and Ivy don’t make your little shipper heart skip a beat, because you might be…I don’t know, dead. In that case, you’ll probably be unmoved by our next fanfic-brought-to-life, but I made starry eyes at it this morning and so you’re getting it this afternoon.
Remember when this awesome piece of fanart popped up and made the rounds?
Yeah, I would wear every one of those costumes.
Anyway, the man behind the ink, Stephen Byrne, opted to work the wildly popular image into a nine page silent comic, which is about as awesome as you can imagine, and which ends with a totally delightful twist. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but you can find the whole comic, along with an interview with Stephen, right here.
Who are you shipping these days, crusaders? Let me know in the comments!
Eh…I actually thought that Byrne comic was kind of awful. Anyone that pairs Wonder Woman with either of the trinity loses my support and interest.
Frankly, Batman/ Superman is pretty terrible to me. It always winds up creating some pretty awful misogyny in the fandom as people go out of their way to diss the women in the narratives. Superman belongs with Lois Lane and all efforts to erase her are pretty gross. Case closed.
Harley/Ivy all the way. That’s a couple I would actually support.
SuperBat does have misogynist fanfic that slights Lois and Selina. However, as pairing they are really cute together and good fan authors can handle the complex relationships that are innate to the characters without misogyny.
The Harley Ivy news literally makes me giddy.
I’ve been shipping them since the early days of DCAU so this makes me so happy.
