Welcome back to another edition of Mighty Marvel Monday, where the stories are made up and the links don’t matter!
This is all real Marvel news from the past week that you might have missed. Honest.
It was announced that Marvel will be releasing their Free Comic Book Day titles in Spanish as well as English, which is all kinds of awesome.
Ms. Marvel, led by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona, is one of the five finalists for the first ever Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity, which were announced via the L.A. Times Hero Complex this week. The winner will be anounced at a ceremony taking place at the Long Beach Comic Expo on February 28th.
Marvel has been slowly announcing the voice cast for its new animated series Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be premiering on the Disney Channel sometime later this year. The Mary Sue posted a good summation here.
In the grand tradition of retconning their existing Disneyland rides into contemporary media, Disney decided to solicit Marvel to create a new backstory for classic Disneyland ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
I was just as skeptical when I heard. But ComicBook.Com posted their exclusive preview, and I have to admit, my interest is piqued. Mostly because of its female protagonist.
Fingers crossed this turns out to be the next Pirates of the Caribbean and not the next Haunted Mansion.
And in case you missed it–
ComiXology announced a BOGO Marvel sale this past weekend, with Buy One Get One Free Marvel titles. You have until 11:59pm tonight, Monday 2/23, to buy to your heart’s content.
