Happy TUESDAY, True Believers! Sorry for the delay in news—sometimes my “real” job gets in the way. I’ll try to make up for it, I swear.
Did you know there is a Marvel/Attack on Titan Crossover that recently went to print in Japanese magazine Brutus? Well, there is! In a desperate money grab attempt to give Marvel and Manga fans what they want, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy attack a titan (eh? eh?. . . no?) that is destroying New York City. Marvel’s been trying to build brand recognition in Japan over the past few years, so this isn’t actually a totally weird move—I mean, okay, yeah, it kind of is.
Disney made $4,000,000,000 in global box office sales this year, largely owed to The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, just in case you thought your beloved nerd media had anything to do with you, the fans, and wasn’t just about a mega corporation’s need to make a ridiculous sum of money.
I thought this was already a thing we knew, but apparently it wasn’t: here are the release dates for Phase 3, posted yesterday on Marvel’s twitter (and since deleted).
I don’t super-duper understand people who are obsessed with visiting Disney. It seems expensive and crowded and vaguely cult-ish. Anyway, some people are very excited that this douchey looking Hawkguy and wig-tastic Black Widow will now be sometimes available to take photos with at Disney parks. Like. . . why, though? Are you willing to suspend your disbelief to the extent that standing next to a desperate acting hopeful named like, Chad, or something, in a Hawkeye costume gets you all revved up? Whatever, everybody’s got their own thing.
I kept seeing this story passed around as “CHRIS PRATT OBSESSED WITH BEING ON AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D! PUT CHRIS PRATT ON THAT SHOW OR HE WILL DIE!” but when you actually read his statement, he’s like “yeah sure” and “pretty neat.” Oh, Internet.
