When the boys at school told 5-year old Leanna that superheroes were for boys, her 7-year sister decided that October 1 should be wear your super hero day.
What started out as sisterly love has exploded with the help of social media into a supportive day of geek support and superhero pride.
Folks are encouraged to wear their superhero and post a photo on the Facebook event page or to Twitter or Instagram using #WearYourSuperheroes. Here are some fun ones from Twitter.

There’s still time left in the day! Grab a camera show solidarity. Superheroes are for everyone!
This is why more people need to be involved in geeky pursuits.
If any teacher or administrator at that school had known about Katie the Star Wars girl this happened to awhile back, they could’ve turned the whole thing into a fun teachable moment. Katie is still an advocate for other bullied kids, even! http://www.nerdist.com/2014/06/katie-the-star-wars-girl-gives-her-stormtrooper-armor-to-another-bullied-girl/
