The #WWACTV chat is where the casual TV viewer and the self-professed (or in denial) addict discuss the newest shows and old favourites.

During our July 13th chat, we discussed:

  • Your thoughts on livetweeting and spoilers.
  • The rules when it comes to spoilers and book adapted TV shows.
  • Movie actors/actresses coming to television?
  • Viewers now taking chances on television shows that are different/complex rather than with films.

But before all that, we discussed what we watched the past two weeks (June 29th-July 13th). Here was what I checked out:

New Finds

The Musketeers. 2014. BBC. Show. Promo Photo.

I stumbled across BBC’s The Musketeers and I’m officially in love. The show is in its first season and has already aired all the episodes in the UK. Despite the fact that it takes place in France and everyone at the BBC decided not to bother to lose their English accents, it’s well written and wonderfully acted. I’ve also had people recommending The Last Ship and got hooked on the show. It has a great premise of a US naval ship with a mission to find vaccine for a virus and needs to navigate a very chaotic world. McDreamy of the Grey’s Anatomy fame is in it as well as the lady vampire from the cancelled 2010 show: The Gates.

Brazil. FIFA World Cup 2014. Soccer. Football.

FIFA 2014 World Cup has come to an end with Germany taking the championship for the fourth time since the competition began in 1930. They were a strong team since the beginning so congratulations you Germans!

Season Premieres

Witches of East End. Promo Photo. Dark is Rising. Season 2. Lifetime. 2014. Show.

I found the Under The Dome season 2 premiere (and second episode) underwhelming and I attribute it to introducing characters I don’t care about, killing off characters I loved as well as taming the lovely Barbie. Boo! What happened guys? On the plus side, Witches of East End season 2 came back with a bang as something wicked came out of the portal we saw at the end of season 2. I find it to be a more compelling witch show than Salem and I’m excited to see how the season plays out. Boo Dash!

Series Premieres

Extant. CBS. Show. 2014. Teaser Trailer.

I found out about Finding Carter a week before it aired and, for a MTV show, it’s actually pretty good. The only thing that identifies it as an MTV show is the required party scenes for every episode (it aired two episodes) which takes away from the emotional anchor it’s going. The acting is great and the writing is awesome but Carter is starting to get on my nerves a bit. Extant is my most anticipated summer show and it didn’t disappoint. I love Halle Berry and the world they’ve created is pretty cool but I’m more preoccupied with the secrets! What’s going on???? I really want to see how this all plays out and who doesn’t love aliens?

Talking Dead. Dead, White and Blue. Special. AMC. Show. 2014. Season 5 Preview.

I checked out the Talking Dead: Dead, White and Blue special  during the fourth of July weekend and thought, “eh”. It gave a sneak peek of what’s to come in season 5 which I could honestly do without and felt like an extended discussion of the season finale of season 4. I’m not in love with Walking Dead the way I was at the beginning and the excitement for season 5 has died down for weeks now. We’ll see…

The next #WWACTV chat will be July 27th at 7PM EST and I want to know what you’ll be watching the next two weeks. Excited for any returns? How about a new series? Maybe a finale or two? An old show you haven’t seen before? Sound off in the comments below.
