The Toronto Star reports that DC Entertainment has had a change of heart and will allow Superman’s shield to be used in a planned statue of murdered child, Jeffrey Baldwin.

A Wednesday press release says that

DC Entertainment uses a flexible set of criteria when we receive worthy requests such as this, and at times have reconsidered our initial stance. After verifying the support of appropriate family members, DC Entertainment will be allowing the Jeffrey Baldwin Memorial Statue to feature the Superman “S” shield.

As of yesterday, memorial organizer Todd Boyce had resigned himself to using a “J” on the statue, and had made peace with DC’s decision. The family has not spoken publicly about the controversy surrounding the statue.
