Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy IMAX 3D Sneak Peek

1

Last night, I got to see seventeen minutes of the newest Marvel film, Guardians of the Galaxy, set to come out on August 1st. Before the sneak peek, I have to admit that I was hesitant of the film. My only motivating factor for planning on seeing it in August is the Marvel brand. They haven’t disappointed me with any of their films yet so they’ve earned the opportunity to take risks the way they did with the first Iron Man film. Guardians is foreign property to me even as someone who reads comics and there has yet to be a trailer that really made me go, “Yes! I must see this.” So when I was given the opportunity to see seventeen minutes of the film in Imax 3D, I jumped at the chance. I headed to the theatre with my plus one (my thirteen-year-old sister). We got a movie poster and watched Director James Gunn give his opening remarks on the screen before watching what we were all there for.

I won’t tell you what I saw and I’m sure other publications will but I will say that I had a really great time. The action sequences were fantastic and the humor was spot on. The two characters I was the least sure about were the ones I loved the most: Rocket Raccoon and Groot. I never understood the Bradley Cooper or Vin Diesel casting when you could have easily gone for a voice actor but I was blown away. Bradley Cooper is just fantastic as Rocket (although I still don’t get why they need Vin Diesel to be the one to utter three words but I probably need to see the entire movie for a better grasp of the decision). After that peek, we got to see the cherry bomb trailer with a look at a small scene before the lights came on.

The 3D Imax experience was amazing. I want to reassure fans of the Marvel films that this is a film to check out and tell to everyone else that it’s a really funny, action packed summer movie that they will enjoy. Man, I’m excited.
