I’ve been a fan of Hayley Atwell since she graced the screen on Captain America: The First Avenger as Agent Peggy Carter. She won me over again when she appeared in her very own Marvel One-Shot which offered a great look at what a potential series for Carter would look like if she was ever brought to the small screen.
Oh, Marvel. What took you so long?
Deadline announced last night that the Agent Carter series Marvel was working on has been picked up by ABC with a straight-to-series order for Fall 2014-15. Here’s a bit of what the show will be about via Deadline:
It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers
I had serious doubts that this show would be announced and picked up for the fall line up because of how little of the information we were getting (literally nothing besides the initial murmurings months back). Marvel definitely knows how to keep its secrets but I do have my worries. Agents of SHIELD took most of its season to finally deliver really good episodes so I’m hesitant on the quality of the Agent Carter show outside of its fantastic lead and rich character. However, this is a new team so I might be worrying for nothing.
I’m psyched for this. Are you?
