News & Things: Hop on the Digital Comics Love Train
Marvel’s planning a new digital giveaway to kick off by offering a month’s free access to its Marvel Unlimited app. You’ll be able to check out 15,000 digital back-issues going back to the ’60s and as recent as just 6 months ago. Perfect time to gorge on your back-reading!
Mark Millar was one of digital comics’ biggest nay-sayers, and now he’s come around to hop onto the digital wagon. Interesting to see a big name in the industry change their mind on the issue, plus, it’s great to see a Millar interview where he’s not being a jerk.
This digital-first anthology series has seen some of the best Superman stories in the past few years, and more good stuff is on the horizon. Kelly Sue DeConnick, Ming Doyle and Joe Keatinge are all putting their spin on the Big Blue Boy Scout, along with some classic Superman creators.
The ‘Arkham’ video game series has featured oodles of Batman villains, and now Tommy Elliot might be taking the center stage. It’s all rumors at this point, but seeing Bruce face off against his old friend could make for an intriguing storyline.
Costume designer Michael Wilkinson drops the first mentions of what Wonder Woman’s costume could look like in Man of Steel‘s 2015 sequel. Not too many details yet, but it’s reassuring to know they’re casting a wide net for inspiration, from various comics eras to her outfits in different mediums. So many awesome Wonder Woman designs through the years, hopefully they’ll pick up the good parts then craft something awesome and new.
