Jill Thompson of Sandman, Beasts of Burden, and Scary Godmother fame, has a project in need of funding: The Scary Godmother Doll. With a prototype of the doll ready to go, funding will go strictly to tooling the steel mold for the doll, and an initial production run. At $93,912 pledged of $150,000 and with 9 days to go, you still have time to get in on this. And with rewards like press-on tattoos, audio books, DVDs of the Scary Godmother stage performance, wall art, and of course the fashion doll herself, you can’t go wrong.

But don’t worry, the podcasts are here to say! Citing the tremendous amount of work that goes into running a daily-news site, iFanboy’s Connor Kilpatrick said they would, take some of the load off of their writers, and focus that energy instead on their creative content.
‘Saga’ wins 2013 Hugo Award
Volume one of the beloved series by Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples one best graphic story at this year’s Hugos. They beat out a strong slate of nominees, including Grandville Bête Noire, Locke & Key v5, Schlock Mercenary: Random Access Memorabilia, and Saucer Country v1.
Hayao Miyazaki Retiring
The 72 year old is set to retire after the release of his next film, The Wind Rises. (Maybe. He’s ‘retired’ before). Miyazaki is known for cinematic gems like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Studio Ghibli, the animation studio he founded and continues to release his films, will continue making movies.
